ISRO Interview Experience
CRACK ISRO in First Attempt
ISRO Interview Questions
I have already shared about BARC Interview Experience, Journey from GATE AIR 2527 to AIR 88 in my previous posts.
In this post I am sharing ISRO Interview Experience which I found on Facebook. I hope this will help future aspirants to have their preparation ready for the final battle.

About ISRO:
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), is the space agency of the Government of Republic of India headquartered in the city of Bangalore(South West India). Its vision is to “harness space technology for national development”, while pursuing space science research and planetary exploration. Formed in 1969, ISRO superseded the erstwhile Indian National Committee for Space Research (INCOSPAR) established in 1962 by the efforts of independent India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, and his close aide and scientist Vikram Sarabhai. The establishment of ISRO thus institutionalised space activities in India. It is managed by the Department of Space, which reports to the Prime Minister of The Republic of India. ISRO built India’s first satellite, Aryabhata, which was launched by the Soviet Union on 19 April 1975. In 1980, Rohini became the first satellite to be placed in orbit by an Indian-made launch vehicle, SLV-3. ISRO subsequently developed two other rockets: the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) for launching satellites into polar orbits and the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) for placing satellites into geostationary orbits. These rockets have launched numerous communications satellites and earth observation satellites. Satellite navigation systems like GAGAN and IRNSS have been deployed. In January 2014, ISRO successfully used an indigenous cryogenic engine in a GSLV-D5 launch of the GSAT-14.
ISRO Interview Experience:
I attended ISRO Interview in November 2014 for the post of scientist/engineer(my written marks 131/240 and cutoff-120 and no weightage for written.
I had already had Interview experience in BARC and BEL that helped me a lot in ISRO Interview.
I prepared revising gate syllabus in areas where I was weak for Interview .
I utilized Wikipedia and some other websites well for some concepts clearing. I had to revise my short notes till before half an hour for Interview.
I was so tensed whether I would clear this time or not.
When I entered the Interview room there consisting a panel of 10 members sit in an elliptical way and at one end I was offered to sit. I wished them good morning unintentionally even if it’s not morning they laughed and asked me to sit.
Firstly, they asked me to tell my favorite subjects.I said digital circuits, analog circuits, signals and systems and electromagnetic (but they did not ask any question from Signal and Systems and EMT).
The chairman I think asked me the first question Write a vhdl programme for n bit multiplier.
I was scared with that I said I have no grip on vhdl but digital and said how n bit multiplier is built using adders and some gates.
2. what is frequency divider? Explained
3)Other panel member(maybe communication engineer) offered me to choose communications I said OK then he asked What is CDMA,GSM,FDMA and why CDMA not being used.
4)what is noise and various types of channels.
5)one and only lady madam started asking from EDC. What is bridge rectifier and it’s uses compared to others and ripple frequency and the circuit diagrams and also peak inverse voltages etc I explained all
6)someone from VLSI domain asked me
What is noise margin and why it’s used. Noise margin of cmos.If a high power CMOS is used then how can be its noise margin levels compared to low power CMOS levels.
7)I think he’s from instrumentation started asking me Explain transducer where I am most interested I explained microphone with Faraday’s law And that was awesome He asked me difference between led and pin diode Solar and photo voltaic cell(here I fumbled)
8)back to digital aked What is dual port memory (said don’t know) Explain DMA controller(explained)
9)asked what is smps and why it’s used in CPUs I said definition but said no idea about smps(here they emphasized me to tell but I couldn’t )
10)Digital: I want a bulb to glow when 0 is given I said(not gate) then he asked me what if NOT gate doesn’t have current driving capability I said to use Darlington amplifier.
In overall I answered around 70-75% questions
Interview duration: 35 mins
The panel of Interview is so good and helpful They didn’t ask any project related questions (maybe because I was pass out of 2012 or they may not ask)
Finally one thing I want to say is that be crystal clear in your concepts and the questions are not tough. You can crack the interview if you are good at basic concepts.
